daily painting practice 103 - Clementines

I did a sketch in charcoal this time because I wanted to check if the composition stood alone or if it needed more. I think it works well. I especially like the way the light catches the peel. This is the same shadow box I always use but this time I put colored sheets of paper in the back and on the bottom.

I know, you are asking why another orange. I still feel I haven't caught the color and texture yet. THis is the closest one yet. I may have to do 100 of these to learn it. You just don't get better by wishing it were true. It takes practice. ....And a lot of food for subject matter.
