Daily Painting Practice - Memorial Day Tribute

I was very pleased to be awarded the purchase of two of my paintings for the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home through the Nebraska 1% Art Project. It was a national competition for commission work or work for purchase. My painting 12th and Harney was chosen as well as...
The Veteran. I was very glad to see this one picked because I had originally painted it as a tribute to the veterans after watching the series "Band of Brothers".

Simple Tribute
original by Peter Yesis
6"x6"
oil on canvas board

I really like the simple, quiet ways people in my neighborhood pay tribute to or honor the sacrifice that so many have made on our behalf. There is something so dignified and beautiful about this little flag attached to the home. Symbolically attached to the heart of the people in the home.

If this painting sells, I am going to match the amount as a donation to the (The Disabled American Veterans Charitable Service Trust)
Even if it doesn't sell I am going to donate anyway.

Good for you, Peter. Thanks for honoring the vets in this way and I'm so glad these wonderful paintings of yours were chosen. I think the vet on his porch is very moving, I can see my father-in-law in this image, they gave so much. My husband, a Vietnam vet, gets little recognition or thanks and people like you make a big difference. Are you a veteran too or just a wonderfully patriotic citizen? Hope you are getting back to normal and had a good Memorial Day with you family.
