Two Red Apples
5"x7"
oil on masonite

Sweet delicious red apples. The artist's fall back when still life props or ideas are hard to find. What is the universal appeal of apples? I think it has to do with a simple form that we all can relate to. What do you think?

I think we're attracted to painting objects like fruit due to their subtle differences and imperfections. We are after all observers first, technitians second. Who wants to paint a pair of identical plastic apples (please don't tell us these were fakes :-)

Maybe what lures us back is the firey red color. Perhaps it stimulates us to begin again.

Right on the mark and not a mark out of place.
