daily painting practice - Van Gogh'n Fishin'

I was originally thinking of painting this in a more realistic manner with dark shadows and lots of detail, but as I started to paint I kept thinking of Vincent Van Gogh and how he might approach this subject. Needless to say Van Gogh won the argument and we went fishing together.

You're right: that basket weave is a great van Gogh subject, for his brushstrokes.
