I am sorry I didn't get my camera angle right for the best comparison.8"x10"

Almost finished. The background should be gone over a little. I think it is too distracting. I apologize for the photo a little glaring.
I really enjoyed this painting even though I struggled with that intense red of the gladiolus. I think I fussed too much with it. That's a bad habit I return too when I am not confident in my color selection. Practice is the only remedy.
Summer is almost gone and there are so many flowers I wish I could paint before they wilt away. But Autumn has it's own rewards which should be fun to discover how to paint.

I use acrylics but I have trouble achieving a nice vibrant red. I think you nailed it, and I don't find the background distracting

Excellent, Peter. You get better and better with each brush stroke!
This one is singing... it's really lovely. Nice work.
This one's a beauty Peter. And I love the messy background - very painterly as they say. When you see a Morandi upclose, he really pushed that paint around, especially in the backgrounds..not cool at all.
Peter,
Great job here. Darkening the background was a huge plus. The flowers are screaming now. I want to paint something red now!!
Thanks for posting your process. Always love to see how someone else solves problems.
That came out wonderfully, Peter. Great mason jar, too!
Nailed it Peter! Flowers throw me for loops. Excellent work.
Thank you for posting the progress pics. I learn so much from them. Thanks for being such an inspiration!!
As you can tell, we all love this painting. I love the contrast between the delicacy of the flowers agains the sketchy background. Amazing painting.
