Daily Painting Practice- The Cat

I am feeling much better today. Thanks to all those who sent in the cure.

I only needed to do a little work on this to finish it. That face just needed a little more life and sparkle. I also played with the door and shadows, sharpened some edges and worked on some detail in the rug.

I am calling this one finished. A few weeks ago I posted the this as "Thinking About It" work in progress. It has been a long time getting to it but I can call it complete...except for the title. I need some help with that. Usually my wife/title maker picks the name but since she is not here while I type this. I'll ask all of you out in blogland. What should the name of this painting be?

"Please decide, in or out!"

I always enjoy your paintings and this one is special even though I usually don't have much feeling for paintings of cats. The kitty has a very sweet expression and the detail/color is wonderful with the green in her eyes complimenting the green in the rug. Thanks for sharing her.

Its lovely Peter. I especially like the simple shapes of the door, the wall and the rug. They make the painting interesting and show off the cat to its best advantage. It's really beautifully composed and painted.

I think the title should be "waiting to go". It's really lovely, you do such nice work. Barb

I love this cat, I think you should name it "Well, I'm Waiting"

Thank you all-
These are some great names.
Lainey- I loved painting those green eyes. Being back lit, it was so important to catch that color.
Sheila- you picked up on very thing I tried to do. Keep the composition simple yet full enough to tell a story.

Barbie and Michele - Great names- She certainly is waiting, but has that- Maybe I'll go - expression.

How about "Man's Worst Friend"?

At the risk of offending the kitty, how about - "Fat Mat Cat"?

btw - What a terrific painting! All those lines intersecting on the kitty and just amazing all-over balance. What great contrasts - the bright area of the window, the dark of the cat's back and all those great muted halftones, plus all the angles and lines against the curves of the cat! This one is worth studying! Beautiful.
