Daily Painting Practice - First Peony

The peonies are out in force this week. This is the first of, I am sure, many peony paintings to come.
Peonies are great flowers to paint. One interesting thing to observe is that the blooms nearly triple in size as they mature. This was a young one.

Most of my peonies are pink but I do have a few white ones. There are some neighbors that have very dark purple and deep velvety red ones....I may have to plant some new varieties so I don't get too bored painting the same thing year after year.
