Good luck Peter. That is one nice painting.

That is exquisite, Peter... and underpriced.

A stunningly beautiful piece of work...and I concur with Jeff..underpriced!!..there's a lot of painstaking work gone into that lace. Good luck and I hope you get the bids it deserves.

Darren,Jeff and Vivienne-
Thanks for the confidence booster. There are times when an artists's bad days seem to take over the good ones. Then you guys and gals come along and help put things in perspective. I have not been in the game long enough to know anything about pricing. This may sound ridiculous but it is almost too emotional a topic for me to be objective . You are 3 artists I admire so I greatly appreciate the comments.

Hi Peter, I can never get enough lookers on Ebay, only about 30 in a week; it takes about 60 lookers for one bid. Of course,(it may be because my work sucks!) or it may be that I am just not well known enough for anyone to search me out with the hundreds of others doing the exact same thing. I am turning to PayPal buttons on my blog (when time allows). I just cannot afford to sell 12" x 16" portraits for $50. -$100.; even the price of paying for consecutive dead auctions has hurts. Ebay just doesn't work for me, it would however, if I sold one everyday like Duane Keiser; but he has had some "attention grabbing help" from the media to place him in a very desired spot with the public. Those who started early are in, the rest of us are waiting to be noticed. All in all, it is a patience/numbers game. JLC

Jeff Hayes took the words out of my month. I spent five minutes looking at the close up for clues on how its done. Very well. I too am watching all the activity on ebay and learning to understand the business of selling fine art. I'll be watching. :)

Beautiful !!

Good luck, Peter! I don't see any reason why you won't find a buyer. It's an inspiring piece -- the savvy collector will realize the opportunity to buy such a quality painting direct from the artist is something they shouldn't pass up!

Also . . . did you consider putting a link to your artist's website or blog right in the ebay description? It might be nice for the collectors who find you through the ebay seach engine and want to do some follow up research. Just a thought.

Beautiful piece Peter...collect many like this and approach a gallery for a show...I'm afraid ebay won't do you justice (hope I'm dead wrong, though).

This is a stunning painting and I will be interested to see how your ebay experiment goes.

Love the painting...the lace is especially nice!

Just a thought... perhaps with a listing like this (price range) you might consider having a lot of close up images of the painting. I'm just trying to put myself in the spot of the buyer...being a little more hesitant to put down a grand. More visual representation of the work might convince a collector who's sitting on the fence.

Also, "feature plus" might be appropriate as well.

Good luck Peter!

thank you all, I am overwhemled by you kind words here and your help.
Justin - Thanks for the ideas. I think you are right about the need for more pictures. If I was a buyer I'd want to see more. I wonder if I can add them.
I'll let you all know how the experiment ends. I hope you are all learning as much from the comments as I am.

I think you have to have a feedback rating of 10 or more to list items as featured plus. You're almost there Peter! I talked to Mick today and we were talking about coming down to Omaha some Saturday or Sunday in the near future and doing some painting. What do you think?

I know I might be late on this one, but good luck. I haven't been selling my work on ebay either for the same reason. I'm not a daily painter, my work is a bit larger and at times more involved and I can't afford to under sell it for $100. I hope some one buys this from you...thank you for doing this test!
