This was a fun beginning almost like watercolor painting.... Is that an oxymoron?
I like the color I picked for the background this time. I changed from my usual burnt umber/ultra marine blue to Ultra-marine and indian red with a touch of Pthalo green. I also used Liquin Medium this time instead of just paint to kee things fluid and more transparent.
I started painting the design very light and grayed down the color. I should probably learn to use more brushes. Usually I only use just two brushes sometimes only three.
I may keep painting oranges until I get it right. Or I may pick another color to do battle with. Good thing it is the weekend. I'll concentrate on my larger work and put the oranges away.... or eat them.

Were you able to stick to your 2-hour timeframe for this painting?

I strayed and went 2 1/2 hrs. 3 if you count the time I used to make tea and sit back to evaluate.
I'm chuckling about the tea.
I like your use of both warm and cool colors in the ceramic piece.
Amazing and beautiful. I especially love the pattern and texture on the bowl. Your lighting on all these set ups is really nice too.
I have to agree with Anthony, you've done really well - quite striking. I really appreciate the tips this blog of yours gives.
